Young Harris College offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 30 majors and 22 minors across seven academic divisions: Education, Fine Arts, Humanities, Mathematics and Science, and Social and Behavioral Sciences, plus Interdisciplinary, Teacher-Preparation, and Pre-Professional programs. The college transitioned from a two-year institution to a four-year college in 2008, gaining regional accreditation through SACSCOC. All departments offer course-based research experiences, and undergraduate research opportunities are available to first and second-year students across all disciplines.
The 485-acre rural campus in the Northeast Georgia mountains features modern facilities including the Rollins Campus Center (2014), The Towers (2013), and the Harp Recreation Center (2010). Student life includes 13 Greek organizations, numerous clubs and activities, outdoor recreation opportunities (rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking), and cultural events including musical performances, art exhibitions, and theater. The college hosts 16 NCAA Division II varsity sports teams competing in the Conference Carolinas since 2023–24.
Young Harris College makes applying straightforward with support at every step. The college guarantees 100% of students receive scholarships, and textbooks are covered by tuition. Work-study opportunities and grants that do not require repayment are available. The college also offers graduate programs including a Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Science in Leadership & Supervision, both completed in three semesters.
Over 90% of Young Harris graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation. The college provides comprehensive career and professional development services, with a new Professional Readiness & Experiential Programs initiative launching in fall 2026 to provide all students financial literacy, ethics, and leadership training. Notable alumni include U.S. Senator Zell Miller, U.S. Representatives Jack Brinkley and Buddy Cater, MLB players Nick Markakis and Charlie Blackmon, and entertainers including Oliver Hardy and Trisha Yearwood.
