Academic Excellence & History

IIT Bombay was established in 1958 as the second Indian Institute of Technology with support from UNESCO and the Soviet Union. Designated as Institution of Eminence in 2018, it operates as an autonomous institute and deemed university under a board of governors chaired by the President of India. The institute offers innovative undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across 17 academic departments, 35 additional academic centres, and three schools, with a vision to drive technological advancement and research excellence.

Campus & Infrastructure

The 550-acre residential campus in Powai, Mumbai is nestled between Powai and Vihar lakes with proximity to Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
