Yenepoya University is a deemed-to-be university recognised under Section 3A of the UGC Act, 1956, located at University Road, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, Karnataka. It is run by Yenepoya University Trust and is a private nonprofit institution. The university's vision is to provide access to quality higher education, ensuring equity, and to create inspiring leaders of tomorrow. Its mission includes fostering academic excellence and global competencies among students.
History
The Islamic Academy of Education, a not-for-profit trust committed to the upliftment of minorities in general and Muslims in particular, was established in 1991 by entrepreneur Mr. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi as its Chairman. Yenepoya Dental College was granted permission in 1992, and Yenepoya Medical College was launched in 1999. The Yenepoya University Trust was granted Deemed-to-be University status in 2008.
Academics
The university reports 125 programs across 11 disciplines, with 600 teachers and 15,000 students. Admission routes include NEET-based admission for Medical, Dental, Ayurveda and Homeopathy programs, and merit-based admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs not under NEET. Entrance tests and interviews are used for Ph.D and entrance-based programs.
Campus & Facilities
The university campus in Nithyananda Nagar, Deralakatte, includes fully furnished classrooms, well-maintained science laboratories, and residential quarters for staff. The campus has solar panels, a rain water harvesting pond, and a medicinal plant garden with about 50 plant species.
