Webb offers a single rigorous undergraduate major: a dual Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering spanning 146 credits over four years. The curriculum integrates ship design, systems engineering, marine engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil/structural engineering. Students begin hands-on coursework immediately, with access to a 90-foot model ship basin, physics and chemistry labs, machine shop, and carpentry shop. Faculty of 11–12 internationally recognized experts maintain a 9:1 student-to-faculty ratio, enabling close mentorship and original research opportunities.
Webb's signature Winter Work program requires all students to complete 8 weeks of paid internships each January–February, accumulating 8 months of industry experience by graduation. Freshmen work as apprentices in shipyards; sophomores as cadets at sea; juniors and seniors in engineering firms and design offices. This mandatory experience contributes to Webb's 100% job placement rate. Graduates pursue careers in maritime industries, other engineering fields, finance, and law; approximately one-third pursue advanced degrees. The alumni giving rate exceeds 70%, among the highest in the US.
The 26-acre Glen Cove campus features the historic Stevenson Taylor Hall (former Herbert L. Pratt estate), a private beach, and modern academic facilities. All students live on campus for four years under an honor code prohibiting lying, cheating, and stealing. The college has no fraternities or sororities but offers a vibrant social committee, student-run clubs (both sporting and intellectual), a yacht club, automotive workshop, and English pub. Intercollegiate athletics include sailing, tennis, soccer, volleyball, ultimate, and basketball; Webb competes as an independent in the USCAA and MAISA.
Webb admits approximately 28 students annually through a holistic review process. Early Decision deadline is October 16; Regular Decision is January 16. All applicants must submit the Common Application with Webb-specific questions and standardized test scores (SAT or ACT). Finalists are invited for overnight campus visits including interviews with the President and faculty, plus math and other assessments. U.S. citizens and permanent residents receive full-tuition scholarships; Webb meets demonstrated financial need above tuition with minimal loans through foundation and alumni support.
