Washburn Tech offers career-specific training through associate degree and certificate programs across eight main disciplines: Construction, Design & Technology, Health Occupations, Manufacturing, Hospitality & Human Services, Transportation, Adult Education (GED/ESL), and Continuing Education. Programs range from Certified Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing to Welding, Auto Service Technician, Carpentry, and Culinary Arts. The institute also operates a satellite campus (Tech East) offering select programs including evening Electrical Technology. All programs are designed in partnership with business and industry to ensure real-world, high-demand skills.
Located on an urban campus in Topeka at 5724 SW Huntoon, Washburn Tech hosts regular events including Fall and Spring Open Houses, Career Fairs (separate healthcare and all-programs events), Back 2 School Bash, Turkey Bowl flag football competition, and the annual Toy Build community service project. Students have access to residential living options, Little Learners Child Care, campus services, student organizations, and an iCard system. High school students' tuition is paid by the State of Kansas. Post-secondary students can access federal financial aid, scholarships, and the Kansas Promise Scholarship, which covers tuition for qualifying students who commit to living and working in Kansas for two years after program completion. The Admissions Team offers campus visits, new student orientation, and personalized counseling. Commercial Driver License (CDL) training is available as a four-week accelerated option. Adult Education programs include GED and ESL pathways.
Washburn Tech reports a 94% job placement rate, the highest in Kansas. Career Services support includes job placement assistance, employer connections through the Handshake platform, and two annual career fairs.
