History
Vardhman Mahavir Medical College was established at Safdarjung Hospital by the Government of India in November 2001. Dr. Jagdish Prasad served as the Founder Principal. The college was inaugurated by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 17 December 2001. The first batch of MBBS students was admitted in February 2002. The college building was dedicated to the nation by Vice President M. Hamid Ansari on 20 November 2007.
Academics
The college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. It offers MBBS, MD/MS and super-specialty programs. MD/MS courses in pre and para clinical subjects started in 2011, and the college also runs super specialization (M.Ch/DM) courses. The college has 170 MBBS seats, 325 MD/MS seats and 62 super-specialty seats. Its undergraduate mission includes understanding critically the role of health and learning all aspects of National Health Policies.
Research
The college received the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) and Intramural grants from the Department of Health Research. It has initiated PhD programs in collaboration with the ICMR and GGSIPU. The college is also a member of the National Cancer Grid.
Admissions
Admission to MBBS is through UG Counselling. DNB course admission is conducted through DNB Counseling by MCC, DGHS. MD/MS admission is through 50% All India Quota and 50% University State Quota by MCC, DGHS. The college also holds B.Sc (H) Nursing counselling rounds.

The college is located at H693+H6W, NH 48, near AIIMS Hospital, Ansari Nagar West, New Delhi, Delhi 110029. The Office of the Principal and the Academic Section are on the ground floor of the college building. The library and reading room are among its listed facilities.
