Vancouver School of Theology has been part of theological education in British Columbia for over 100 years. It was formed in 1971 out of exploration by the Anglican Theological College and Union College of British Columbia, which held joint classes in the 1960s. In 2010, the school established its Inter-religious Program. In 2014, it sold the Iona Building to the University of British Columbia and moved into a newly renovated facility. The sale also enabled the establishment of the VST Foundation, which holds the bulk of the assets from the sale.
The school offers the Master of Divinity (MDiv), Master of Arts in Public and Pastoral Leadership (MAPPL), Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS), and Master of Theology (ThM) programs. It established its partnership with First Nations Communities more than 35 years ago and offers the Indigenous Studies Program by extension. Its mission is to educate and form Thoughtful, Engaged and Generous Christian leaders.
Students have access to the H.R. MacMillan Library, the VST Library Catalog and Research Databases, the UBC Student Recreation Centre, UBC Student Health Services, and the AMS Student Nest. Transit access is available through U-Pass BC and the Compass Card.
