The University of Dayton offers more than 80 undergraduate programs and 50+ graduate and doctoral programs through five academic units: College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education and Health Sciences, School of Engineering, and School of Law. The curriculum emphasizes the Common Academic Program, which integrates knowledge across disciplines. In 2009, UD offered what it believes to be one of the first undergraduate degree programs in human rights. The university is classified as an R1 research institution with very high research activity.
The 388-acre campus spans both sides of the Great Miami River in southern Dayton and includes 38 academic, research, athletic, and administrative buildings; five residence halls; 18 student apartment complexes; and 473 residences. Notable facilities include the Immaculate Conception Chapel (built 1869), Roesch Library (housing the world's largest collection of materials on Mary), the RecPlex (125,000 sq ft recreation center), and the University of Dayton Arena. The campus is known for its distinctive porch-clad student neighborhoods and strong sense of community. Students engage in service learning, study abroad, internships, and co-ops as part of guaranteed experiential learning opportunities.
Transfer students are automatically considered for generous scholarships. Transfer application deadlines are February 1 (Early Action) or July 1 (Regular Decision) for fall term, and December 1 for spring term. The university accepts transfer credit from accredited institutions and partners with community colleges including Sinclair College through the UD Sinclair Academy. International students from 38 countries are enrolled, and the university has been recognized as a leading institution for international student support. Part-time and non-degree seeking options are available through the Adult Degree Advancement Program and Academic Enrichment Studies.
