A now-defunct for-profit technical college that trained students in trades, IT, and allied health from 1957 to 2018.
TESST College of Technology offered career-focused programs across multiple disciplines. Programs included Allied Health (Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding Specialist, Pharmacy Technician certificates), Information Technology (Computer Support Technician certificate, Computer Networking Technology Associate degree), Trades (Electrician, HVAC/Refrigeration certificates), and Criminal Justice (Associate degree). The college also provided continuing education courses in specialized areas such as drywall installation, phlebotomy, and security certification prep.
TESST began in 1957 as TESST Technology Institute in Hyattsville, Maryland, initially focusing on electronics instruction. The college expanded through acquisitions, including the Arundel Institute of Technology (1992) and RETS Technical Training Center (1999). In 2001, it gained approval to offer Bachelor of Applied Science degrees. After acquisition by Kaplan in 2002, the college operated under the TESST College of Technology name across three Maryland campuses until Education Corporation of America acquired it in 2015 and subsequently closed all operations on December 4, 2018.
