Swami Shraddhanand College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and is run under the trusteeship of the Delhi Government. It is a co-educational institution situated in Alipur, Delhi, in North Delhi. The college was established in 1967 to cater to the education needs of students of North Delhi and adjoining areas at affordable cost and convenience.
History
The college began in 1967 at Gandhi Ashram in Narela. It later moved to its present location in Alipur. The college has completed 54 years of its existence.
Academics
The college imparts instruction at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Its departments include Botany, Commerce, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English, EVS, Geography, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Physical Education, Political Science, Sanskrit and Zoology. Its mission is to develop academic excellence, nurture creativity and strengthen ethical values amongst students. Its vision is to provide accessible quality higher education through technological advancements and pedagogical interventions.
Campus & Facilities
The college has extensive playgrounds that provide opportunities for students to take part in various games and sports. It is equipped with qualified teaching staff, specialized laboratories and adequate library facilities. The library provides access to e-resources through the Delhi University Library System (DULS). The college also offers scholarships and freeships to deserving students and organizes outreach programmes in collaboration with NSS, NCC and WDC.
Admissions
Undergraduate admission to B.A. (Hons.) and B.Sc./B.Com. programmes is through CUET-UG via Delhi University centralized admission. B.A. (Program) admission is merit-based on CUET subject combinations. Supernumerary seats are available under ECA and Sports quota, for children and widows of Armed Forces personnel, Kashmiri migrants, PM Scholarship J&K, and the ward quota of DU employees, and for foreign nationals.
