Strayer University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs designed for working adults. Programs include bachelor's degrees in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, health services administration, information technology, and public administration, with numerous specializations available. Master's degrees span accounting, business administration (including the Jack Welch Management Institute MBA), cybersecurity, educational design and technology, human resource management, and management. The university also offers associate degrees and graduate certificates. All programs can be completed online, and more than half of students take all courses remotely.
Strayer operates 35 physical campuses across 14 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., with an additional international location in Auckland, New Zealand. The student body is predominantly women (74%) and people of color (76%), with an average age of 34. Most students work full-time while pursuing their degrees. The university has partnerships with approximately 300 Fortune 1000 companies and offers employer tuition assistance programs. In 2023, DevMountain expanded coding bootcamp offerings at Strayer facilities.
Undergraduate admission requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Graduate programs (excluding the Executive MBA) require a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50, and official transcripts. The Jack Welch Executive MBA requires a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA, a U.S. accredited bachelor's degree, and 5 years of professional experience. Associate degrees from partner schools can be transferred in full toward a bachelor's degree.
According to the College Scorecard, Strayer's 8-year graduation rates vary by campus (3% to 26%). The 5-year federal student loan default rate is 31%, with average debt repayment at -6% after five years. Students hold approximately $8 billion in collective student loan debt. Many students receive federal financial aid, with 84.9% of Strayer's 2010 revenue coming from U.S. federal government sources. Approximately one-quarter of students receive tuition assistance from employers.
