Stratford awarded graduate and undergraduate degrees through online, residential, and blended formats using a Moodle platform. The university offered programs in nursing (accredited by CCNE), medical assisting, culinary arts (accredited by ACF), business, information technology, and English as a Second Language. Stratford maintained programs specifically designed for U.S. military and veteran students and was recognized as a Yellow Ribbon Program member. The institution also provided non-credit continuing education and professional certifications in Oracle, MSCE, Cisco, Linux, and computer security.
Stratford operated urban campuses in Alexandria and Woodbridge, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; and a learning site in New Delhi, India (through a joint venture with the Modi Group). The student body was predominantly non-traditional, with approximately 20% international students representing over thirty countries and 20% military-affiliated. The university's international presence was recognized with the President's 'E' Award for Exports in 2016 for its contributions to language training programs.
Stratford was accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award degrees through the master's level. In 2022, the U.S. Department of Education decertified ACICS, causing Stratford to announce closure at the end of Fall 2022. The university filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2023. In 2024, USA Today reported a mysterious online presence using Stratford's name, suggesting potential scam activity.
