St. Lawrence College is an Ontario college of applied arts and technology with campuses in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall.
St. Lawrence College was created as one of Ontario's colleges of applied arts and technology after Premier William Davis responded to increasing need for technical education. Cornwall and Kingston were chosen to serve six counties in the Eastern Ontario region: Frontenac, Leeds, Grenville, Dundas, Stormont, and Glengarry. The Kingston campus site, a 59-acre former Ontario Psychiatric Hospital farmland at King Street and Portsmouth Avenue, was acquired from the government for one dollar. In 1970, Brockville was recognized as the third campus, acquiring Ontario Hospital farmland on Parkedale Avenue, also for one dollar.
