St. Andrew's College in Winnipeg is a Ukrainian Canadian academic institution affiliated with the University of Manitoba. It is sponsored by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada and serves as the theological school of that church. The College exists to promote Orthodox spirituality, academic excellence, cultural awareness and leadership within the Church, the Ukrainian Canadian Community and Canadian society.
The College traces its beginnings to Pastoral Courses in Theology conducted in Saskatoon and Regina since 1918. In 1932, these courses evolved into the Seminary of the Ukrainian Greek-Orthodox Church of Canada and moved to Winnipeg. The College was incorporated under its charter in September 1946 on the premises of the former St. John's College (Anglican) on Church Avenue in Winnipeg. On June 14, 1962, it became an associated college of the University of Manitoba.
St. Andrew's College offers four programs: a Certificate in Theology, a Diploma in Theology, a Bachelor of Theology, and a Master of Divinity. The Certificate in Theology is a one-year program, and the Diploma in Theology is a two-year program for mature students. The Centre for Ukrainian Canadian Studies offers undergraduate programs with a major or minor in Ukrainian Canadian Heritage Studies.
Since the spring of 1964, the College has been located on the University of Manitoba campus, at 29 Dysart Road in Winnipeg. Construction of a new building on the campus began in December 1962 and was completed in the spring of 1964. The Students' Residence provides accommodation for approximately 40 male and female students. The College also has a library with over 30,000 volumes, a cafeteria/dining hall, parking facilities, and a multi-purpose room.
