Southwest Tech offers competency-based certificate programs developed with ongoing input from business and industry partners. Programs span healthcare (medical assistant, nursing, pharmacy technician, surgical technology), manufacturing (welding, automation), public safety (EMT, paramedic, firefighter), information technology, culinary arts, and skilled trades (plumbing, electrical apprenticeships). The college provides individualized instruction and quickly adapts curriculum to meet changing workforce demands. High school students can earn college credit that counts toward CTE requirements.
Any person declaring a technical training objective is eligible for admission; a high school diploma or equivalent is not required, though it is mandatory for students seeking Title IV Federal Financial Aid. The college offers academic advising, financial aid counseling, scholarships, disability services, and support for both adult and high school students. Student Services operates Monday–Thursday 7:30 AM–5:30 PM and Friday 7:30 AM–4:00 PM at both Cedar City and Kanab locations.
The main campus is located at 757 West 800 South in Cedar City, with a satellite campus in Kanab. A new $19.3 million building was completed in 2016, funded in part by a $200,000 grant from the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation. The college operates year-round with flexible lab and classroom hours. In 2016, Southwest Tech launched the Utah Aerospace Pathway Initiative in partnership with government and industry stakeholders.

The college is student-focused, emphasizing hands-on learning and practical skill development. Leadership is committed to treating students and employees with respect, working as a unified team, and conducting business to high ethical standards. President Brennan Wood has led the institution since 2014.
