Southeastern Louisiana University comprises five colleges: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Business; Education; Nursing and Health Sciences; and Science and Technology. The university offers over 60 degree programs at associate, baccalaureate, and master's levels, plus 24 master's degrees, 2 doctorates, and certificate programs. Business programs are AACSB-accredited, and the university was the first in Louisiana to achieve separate AACSB accreditation in accounting. Engineering technology programs were developed following Tulane's post-Katrina program closures. The university became a doctoral-granting institution in 2005 with a doctor of education in higher education leadership.
The main campus is located in Hammond with additional centers in Baton Rouge (nursing), Walker (literacy and technology), and Manchac (environmental research). The university features state-of-the-art facilities including an 8,000-seat arena (University Center), Sims Library with special collections, an eight-lane all-weather track, and the historic Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts. Student life includes 19 national/international Greek organizations, 16 NCAA Division I varsity teams, religious and spiritual organizations including Catholic and Baptist ministries, and active campus media including the Lion's Roar newspaper (since 1937), KSLU radio (since 1974), and yearbook Le Souvenir (since 1929).
Southeastern offers multiple admission pathways including Beginning Freshman, Transfer and Returning, International, Master/Doctorate, Early Enrollment, and Non-degree options. The university implemented screened admissions standards beginning fall 2000. Graduate programs are offered through five colleges with over 25 graduate degree and certificate programs featuring over 80 concentrations.
