Skagit Valley College offers academic transfer pathways, professional/technical degrees, and certificates across multiple disciplines. The college grants three Bachelor of Applied Science degrees (Environmental Conservation, Applied Management, Healthcare Management) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, along with an RN to BSN program. Many programs are available online, and courses are offered year-round during Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The college also provides Basic Education for Adults and Community Education courses.
SVC operates five locations across northwest Washington: the main Mount Vernon Campus, Whidbey Island Campus in Oak Harbor, San Juan Center in Friday Harbor, and Marine Technology Center in Anacortes. The college serves military personnel and their dependents at the Whidbey Island Campus. Student life includes Cardinal Athletics (competing in NWAC), a fitness center, bookstore, housing, dining options, KSVR Radio, and a library. McIntyre Hall hosts local high school performances.
SVC welcomes first-time students (recent high school graduates and workers with diplomas), continuing students with prior college credit, high school dual-credit participants (Running Start, CTE), Basic Education for Adults students, international students, and military/veterans. Course placement is determined through multiple assessment methods including high school transcripts, Smarter Balanced scores, ACCUPLACER, Directed Self Placement, and credit by exam options.
The college emphasizes student success through comprehensive support services including counseling, advising, disability access services, financial aid, tutoring, writing center support, and TRIO services. Veterans education and workforce grants are available. The college celebrated its centennial class of 2026 and maintains strong transfer pathways for students continuing to four-year institutions.
