History
Shyam Lal College was established in 1964 by Padmashree (late) Shri Shyam Lal Gupta, the then Chairman of Shyam Lal charitable trust. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Vice President of India and Chancellor of the University of Delhi.

Academics
The college offers 11 undergraduate courses in various streams of science, commerce and humanities. It also offers one postgraduate course, in Hindi. Admission routes include CUET-UG through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) and merit-based admission.

The library has more than 76,000 books and subscribed journals on diverse subjects. The college is a Wi-Fi zone, providing internet access to every student and staff member.
