Shri M.P & B.A Patel (Detrojwala) Arts & Commerce College For Girls is a private college located at Umiya Campus, Near Bhagvat Vidyapith, S G Highway, Sola, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was established in 1998 by Shree Umiya KVC Education Trust, which is part of K.V.C. Education Trust. The college is affiliated to Gujarat University and is accredited by the UGC.
The college aims to provide top quality higher education to girls from rural and semi-rural areas of Gujarat. Its vision is to offer education and empowerment opportunities to each student from these areas, supporting the upliftment of girls for whom higher education is not easily accessible. The management aims to make the institution one of the leading institutions of the region.
The college offers education in Arts and Commerce. Departments include English, Commerce, Sociology, Gujarati, and Psychology, each led by a Head of Department. Most faculty members hold a doctorate degree. In an India Today survey, the college ranked first among colleges charging the lowest tuition fees in India, and it was among the best 100 colleges in India in that survey for seven consecutive years.
The main campus sits on 14,063 square yards. Facilities include a library with a reading room, a laptop library, free Wi-Fi and internet access in the library, and photocopying, scanning and printing services. The campus also has a computer laboratory.
Admission to B.A. is merit-based through the Gujarat University Admission Committee, with 10% of seats reserved for students from other boards. B.Com. admission is through online GCAS registration and merit-based allotment.
