Seattle Vocational Institute structured its instructional programs into five major divisions: Basic and Transitional Studies, Allied Health, Business Computers, Cosmetology, and Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training. Basic and Transitional Studies included Adult Basic Education, GED preparation, and English for non-native speakers. Allied Health programs encompassed Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, and Phlebotomy certifications. Business Computers offered a Computer Support Technician certificate and programs in Administrative Office Professional and Office Clerk roles.
As an open-access institution, SVI admitted all persons aged 18 or older. Students under 18 needed a high school diploma or GED completion (ages 16–17). High school students without a diploma could enroll in the Bright Future running start program, which provided dual-credit coursework.
Seattle Vocational Institute was jointly accredited with Seattle Central College by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Individual program accreditations included Dental Assistant (2002, Commission on Dental Accreditation) and Medical Assistant (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs).
