Academics
Scottish Church College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Undergraduate courses include Bachelor of Arts (Honours & General), Bachelor of Science (Honours), Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), Bachelor in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Postgraduate programs include M.Sc. in Botany and M.Sc. in Chemistry. The college has attained an impeccable reputation for excellence as a premier institution of higher education. All courses are open to both men and women students, except B.Ed. which is exclusively for women.
Campus & Infrastructure
The college maintains multiple facilities including college hostels (Lady Jane Dundas Hostel mentioned), a general library with seminar and departmental libraries, digital archives, and computer labs. Recent infrastructure developments include the inauguration of the Ogilvie Building (29/05/2026) and the Sri Abhay Charan De Seminar Hall with The Darshan Eshana Digital Archive (06/11/2024). The college also operates the Kathakali Debnath Innovation Centre (KDIC) and has established an Institution's Innovation Council.
Admissions
The academic session runs from 1st July to 30th June annually. Admission is made strictly in accordance with norms prescribed by the Admission Committee and is provisional, subject to final approval by University of Calcutta. Online applications are processed through www.scottishadmissions.com. Students must produce examination certificates, mark sheets, age certificates, and migration certificates (where necessary). B.Ed. admission follows norms set by the Education Department, Government of West Bengal, and NCTE.
Placements & Outcomes
The college maintains an active placement cell with documented placement records. In 2025-2026, students were placed with companies including Tata Consultancy Services, KPMG, Larson & Toubra, Concentrix, and others, with annual CTCs ranging from 1.20 to 3.25 lacs. Notable placements include roles as Audit ADC, Graduate Commercial Trainee, and Advisor positions. The college tracks both current student placements and pass-out student outcomes across multiple academic years.
Student Life & Support Services
The college provides comprehensive student support through multiple cells and programs: Anti-Ragging Cell, Counseling Cell, Career Oriented Programme, Women and Gender Development Cell (WGDC), Service Learning Cell, Peace Studies Cell, and Faculty Development Programme. The college also operates Sobujmon, an informal learning center for underprivileged children, and maintains active cultural programs including a college choir and participation in inter-college festivals.
