Academics
The School of Law offers three 5-year integrated programmes: B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), and B.Com., LL.B. (Hons.), all approved by the Bar Council of India. The curriculum integrates contemporary legal discourse with hands-on experiential learning, including built-in internship requirements. Students earn two degrees upon completion of the tenth semester. The programmes are designed to prepare legal professionals for diverse roles as advocates, judges, policy makers, public officials, civil society activists, and corporate legal consultants.
Faculty & Expertise
The faculty team is headed by Dr. Balasubramanian, a veteran in legal education with over 30 years of experience. Faculty members bring diverse expertise in Corporate, Taxation, Civil, and Criminal Law, drawn from various strands of legal profession and academia. The school emphasizes teaching by highly qualified and experienced practitioners alongside academic faculty.
Library & Learning Resources
The Law library is recognized as one of the finest in the country, featuring a substantial collection of books, legal databases, and rare journals including Halsbury Laws of England. The library was established through a generous donation by Late Shri G. Ramaswamy, Former Attorney General of India. The entire campus provides seamless access via 1 Gbps Wi-Fi internet to online legal databases such as Manupatra, enabling unlimited simultaneous user access.
Campus & Infrastructure
SASTRA's central library, Saraswathi Sadan, spans 47,000 sq.ft. with modern study areas, audio-visual rooms, and reprographic facilities. The campus includes 9 boys' hostels and 5 girls' hostels accommodating over 4,000 boys and 2,000 girls. Medical facilities include an in-house hospital with 10 beds, two full-time doctors, and paramedical staff. Additional amenities include a Post Office, bookstore, bank with ATM, canteens, and balanced vegetarian dining.
Global Engagement & Moot Court
The school encourages and facilitates student participation in national moot court competitions across premier institutions like NLSIU, Symbiosis, and others in Chandigarh and Thrissur. Students have won accolades in various competitions. The university is working closely with premier law schools abroad for meaningful internship and study abroad programmes, preparing students to compete globally.
