History
Sarsuna College was established on 11 October 1999. It was initially started in the Sarsuna School premises and later shifted to a newly constructed building in Sarsuna Upanagari. The college was initially a regular Undergraduate college with Arts, Science and Commerce streams.
Academics
The college offers regular Honours courses in 16 subjects of Science, Arts and Commerce under the University of Calcutta. In 2014, regular Postgraduate courses in Computer Science and Geography were introduced under the affiliation of the University of Calcutta. Sarsuna College also offers professional courses such as GIS and Remote Sensing. The college is approved by UGC.
Campus & Facilities
The college building is four storied and includes classrooms, laboratories, a library and a seminar hall. Facilities include a fully automated office, GIS laboratory, BOOST laboratory, free Wi-Fi, a new Museum, and a fully automated library with OPAC. Listed facilities also include an auditorium, canteen, common room, playground, students' health home, elevator, and purified drinking water supply.
Admissions
Undergraduate admission is decentralized and conducted through CAP. Foreign students apply via the Study in India portal. Postgraduate admission is through counselling.
Recognition
Sarsuna College is accredited by NAAC with Grade B in 2016. In 2017, the college was awarded by the Department of Women & Child Development & Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal, for successful implementation of Kanyasree.
