R J Tibrewal Commerce College, formerly known as L.J. College of Commerce, was established in 1982 with an aspiration to provide the society, leaders and innovators of tomorrow. The college is private and is located in Vastrapur, Ahmedabad 380015, Gujarat. Its vision is to develop mental, behavioural and social qualities in students of undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines.
History
The college began modestly, using self-financed resources in rented premises with meagre infrastructure. It is run by Lok Jagruti Kendra (LJK), a public charitable trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 and the Societies Registration Act, 1860, both in 1980. The founder members of the trust include Late Prin. B.M. Peerzada, former Dean of the Commerce Faculty at Gujarat University, and Padma Bhushan Lord Meghnad Desai of the London School of Economics.
Academics
The college offers B.Com. and M.Com. courses, with admission to both as per Gujarat University guidelines. Its mission is to create an ambiance in which new ideas, delivery strategies and scholarship flourish. The principal's message states that the college is implementing the National Education Policy 2020.
