RGUKT RK Valley is a campus of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, Andhra Pradesh, constituted under the A.P Govt. Act 18 of 2008 and recognized under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The campus is located at Rajiv Knowledge Valley (Idupulapaya) Village, Vempalli Mandalam, Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh - 516330. The institute is accredited by NAAC with a B+ grade.
History
The idea to create RGUKT began in April 2007 at a meeting between Prof. D. Raj Reddy and Prof. K.C. Reddy, who took the idea to the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy. In March 2008, the AP Government created RGUKT with three residential campuses at RK Valley, Basara and Nuzvid through an Act of the Legislature as a full-fledged university. The university was modeled on IIIT and intended to focus exclusively on rural youth in technology-oriented higher education. The first batch of about 6,500 tenth class graduates was admitted to the six-year integrated B.Tech program in August 2008. Prof. Raj Reddy served as the founding Chancellor for a decade.
Academics
The program is a six-year integrated course after the 10th class examination, leading to a B.Tech. degree. The pre-university part of education offers early specialization in tracks such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences, equivalent to MPC and BiPC. Each year consists of 3 semesters, and graduates are awarded a B.Tech. degree in one of the listed engineering disciplines, including Electronics & Communications Engineering or Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering.
Campus & Facilities
As a fully residential program, all students stay on campus, and a laptop is provided to each student from the first year. Facilities listed include separate and secure hostels for girls and boys, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, a canteen, and an academic complex with high-speed LAN. The library offers a resource centre, electronic resources such as e-Journals, and audio books of classics. Shops, a bank, laundry and barbershops are available on campus.
