Academics
RGIPT offers comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across seven departments: Petroleum Engineering & Geoengineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematical Sciences, and Energy and Human Sciences. The institute provides Bachelor of Technology (4 years), Master of Technology, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, and PhD programmes. Additionally, it offers 3-year Diploma programmes and 3-year BBA degrees. Professional programmes include MBA in Business Analytics and MBA in Energy Transition for working professionals.
Campus & Infrastructure
The institute operates three campuses: the main Jais campus in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh; Energy Institute Bengaluru offering PhD and PG programmes; and Assam Energy Institute in Sivasagar offering Diploma and PhD programmes. Campus facilities include multiple hostels (Sarojini, Asima Chatterjee, Visvesvaraya, C V Raman, Ramanujan, Aryabhatta, Vidyasagar, and Homi Bhabha), a Central Library, Central Instrumentation Facilities (CIF), Design and Innovation Center, Centre of Excellence for AI/ML in Petroleum and Energy Sector, Central Workshop, and a Student Activity Center (SAC).
Admissions
For 2026-27, admissions are open across multiple programmes: B.Tech (4 years, JEE Advanced qualified), M.Sc (2 years, JAM qualified), MBA (2 years, CAT/GMAT score), PhD (3-5 years, Master's + NET/GATE), Diploma (3 years, DAT-2026), and BBA (3 years, RGIPT-Entrance/IPAT/JIPMAT/CUET-UG). Multiple rounds of admissions are conducted throughout the year with rolling deadlines. Foreign nationals are admitted through the Study in India Programme.
Placements & Outcomes
The institute maintains strong placement records with recruitment from major energy sector companies including GAIL (India) Limited, Indian Oil Corporation, Reliance Industries, Engineers India Limited, Haldia Petrochemicals, and various private energy firms. Recent placements include B.Tech students in petroleum and chemical engineering securing positions at KAPL Cristol, Oilmax Energy, and Telesto Energy, while MBA students have been placed at GAIL and IndianOil-Adani Gas. The Career Development Cell (CDC) manages placements and internship opportunities.
