Regent offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees across over 70 courses of study, including programs in arts and communication, business and leadership, divinity and theology, education, law and government, nursing and healthcare, psychology and counseling, and STEM. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Online education began in 1997 and now represents a significant portion of enrollment, with the university recognized for strong online MBA and graduate education programs.
The 70-acre Virginia Beach campus features neo-Georgian architecture and was named among the 30 most beautiful college campuses in the South (2015) and top 15 in America (Niche, 2023). Key facilities include Robertson Hall (Schools of Law, Government, and Undergraduate Studies), the Communication & Performing Arts Center (135,000 sq ft with two theatres and production studios), University Library Building, Student Center, and the Chapel and Divinity Building (completed 2013). The Founders Inn and Spa, a neo-Georgian hotel on campus, is managed by Hilton. Regent accepts freshmen, transfer, graduate, online, law school, military, and international students. The university awarded nearly $23 million in institutional scholarships and aid in 2021–22. Admissions pathways include regular decision for on-campus programs and dedicated online admissions tracks. The university also offers early college and honors college programs for incoming freshmen.
Regent's School of Law moot court program is ranked 6th nationally, with teams winning over 40 national and regional competitions, including victories against Harvard and Yale (2006–07). The online MBA faculty was ranked first nationally by U.S. News & World Report in 2013. More than 150 Regent graduates were hired by the federal government during the George W. Bush presidency. Notable alumni include actor Tony Hale, attorney Jay Sekulow, former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, and U.S. Representative Winsome Earle-Sears.
