Purdue University Northwest offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a doctor of nursing practice degree. The university is organized into six colleges and three schools: College of Business (AACSB-accredited), White Lodging School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, College of Engineering and Sciences with ABET-accredited School of Engineering, College of Humanities Education and Social Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Technology, and an Honors College. The institution was recognized among best regional universities in U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings (2018).
The Hammond campus is residential, covering 194 acres with 17 academic and recreational buildings, fitness center, student housing, and the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building (opened 2020). The Westville branch campus spans 305 acres in rural La Porte County with three academic buildings, student services center, and veterinary emergency facility. Both campuses feature extensive facilities including libraries, technology centers, and recreational spaces. The university also manages Gabis Arboretum, a 300-acre oak preserve near Valparaiso with formal gardens, woodlands, and hiking trails.
Purdue Northwest Pride competes at NCAA Division II level in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as a full member since 2019–20. The university fields 11 intercollegiate varsity sports plus two non-varsity sports: men's baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis; women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball; and non-varsity men's ice hockey, men's volleyball, and co-ed pickleball.
