Purdue University Northwest offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a doctor of nursing practice degree. The university is organized into six colleges and three schools: College of Business (AACSB-accredited), White Lodging School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, College of Engineering and Sciences with ABET-accredited School of Engineering, College of Humanities Education and Social Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Technology, and an Honors College. The institution was recognized among the best regional universities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings (2018).
The Hammond campus serves as the main residential campus with 17 academic and recreational buildings, student housing, a fitness center, and the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building (opened 2020). The Westville branch campus features three academic buildings, a student services complex (opened 2015), and extensive outdoor facilities including Shakespeare's Garden, disc golf, and art collections. Both campuses support athletic facilities and the university operates the Gabis Arboretum, a 300-acre oak preserve near Valparaiso offering educational and recreational programs.
Purdue Northwest Pride competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as a full member since 2019–20. The university fields 11 intercollegiate varsity sports including men's baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis; women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball; plus non-varsity men's ice hockey, men's volleyball, and co-ed pickleball.
Key facilities include the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building with state-of-the-art STEM and nursing labs, the White Lodging Center for Hospitality and Tourism Management, a Challenger Learning Center, the North Central Veterinary Emergency Center (24-hour clinic), and the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex featuring a full gymnasium and fitness facility. The Student-Faculty Library Center (155,000 sq ft) serves as the main library and student union.
