PGCC offers over 100 fields of study through academic, workforce development, continuing education, and personal enrichment programs. The college awards Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees, with many programs featuring distance learning options. Students can transfer to four-year institutions or pursue specialized credentials in allied health, nursing, engineering, education, business, technology, and public safety. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education with specialized accreditation in education, engineering, nursing, radiology, paramedic, and respiratory therapy programs.
The main campus in Largo opened in 1967 and has grown to 22 facilities. PGCC operates extension centers at University Town Center (Hyattsville), Andrews Air Force Base, and a Skilled Trades Center in Camp Springs, plus a shared Laurel College Center with Howard Community College. Recent additions include the Center for Advanced Technology and Center for Health Studies, with ongoing developments including a Culinary Arts Center and health and wellness center. Students enjoy 43 clubs and organizations, study rooms, computer labs with tutoring, and recreational spaces including the Robert I. Bickford Natatorium.
PGCC welcomes transfer students and offers dual-enrollment for high school juniors and seniors from Prince George's County Public Schools, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. The college provides virtual student services and comprehensive enrollment support through its Records and Registration office.
PGCC serves more African-American students than any other post-secondary institution in Maryland and hosts over 1,000 events annually sponsored by community organizations. The college provides specialized programs including the Book Bridge Project, Center for Business and Industry Training, Children's Developmental Clinic, and makes facilities available to the public for community use.
