Arizona's flagship community college, founded in 1920 and home to seven NJCAA championship sports teams.
Phoenix College offers over 200 degree and certificate programs across various disciplines. The college provides training geared toward professional community and business development, as well as general interest courses. It is home to the Student Services Institute and maintains space-grant academic affiliations.
The college operates a main campus in Midtown Phoenix on a 52-acre urban site, as well as a downtown campus in the central business district. The campus features the Dalby Biosciences Building and serves approximately 12,000 students. Phoenix College competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with seven sports teams, including women's softball, soccer, baseball, men's track and field, wrestling, golf, and men's soccer.
Phoenix College has a strong athletic tradition with multiple NJCAA national championships. The women's softball team has won ten national titles (2000, 2001, 2004–08, 2012, 2021, 2022). The college has also won championships in women's soccer (2020, 2022), baseball (1960, 1962, 1965), men's track and field (1964–66), wrestling (1967–69), men's golf (1964), football (1964), women's cross country (1985), and men's soccer (2025). Women's archery won national titles in 1933, 1934, and 1980.
Phoenix College has produced notable alumni including two Miss Americas (1949, 1964), two Arizona governors (Wesley Bolin and Jack Richard Williams), Navajo Nation's first president Peterson Zah, actor Nick Nolte, Tony Award-winning actor Stephen Spinella, investigative journalist Ron Ridenhour, and several professional athletes in football, basketball, baseball, and soccer.
