Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) is an 11-month sound engineering diploma program in London, Ontario.
The Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology (OIART) is located at 502 Newbold Street, London, Ontario N6E 1K6. OIART describes its student body as passionate about audio in any form. The institute has over 40 years of experience and was established in 1983.
OIART offers one all-in-one, 11-month (46-week) diploma program with over 1300 hours, 650 of which are hands-on studio experience. It is a diploma program for sound engineering, not a 4-year degree. The program covers audio engineering, music production, and audio recording, and prepares students to pursue three disciplines: music production, live sound and event production, and audio for visual media. The program has a maximum enrollment of 68 students per year, creating small class sizes.
OIART has eight fully equipped professional studio spaces, all located within its campus and designed to replicate a professional working environment. Students work in small groups of no more than 4 students at a time. Facilities listed include student-dedicated audio engineering and music production studios, classrooms with working studio environments, and a live sound lab with a Midas M32 digital console.
OIART accepts applications through a general application open to high school graduates, high school students, and college or university graduates or students.
OIART reports over 1100 graduates worldwide, a 92% completion rate, and an 80% job placement rate. The institute notes these figures with an asterisk on its website.
