Oak Point University operated two colleges: the College of Nursing and the College of Allied Health. The institution was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and offered programs including Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Bachelor of Science in Imaging Technology (radiography), and degrees in health informatics and health administration. Specific programs were accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technologists (JRCERT), and Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics & Information Management (CAHIIM).
The university was founded in 1914 as West Suburban Hospital School for Nurses, offering a diploma program. It underwent multiple name changes reflecting various affiliations: West Suburban Hospital School of Nursing (1953), Concordia-West Suburban College of Nursing (1985), West Suburban College of Nursing (2003), Resurrection University (2010), and finally Oak Point University (2021). The institution merged with Saint Francis School of Radiography in 2015 and expanded to a second campus in Oak Brook in 2021. The university closed abruptly on April 19, 2024, after experiencing significant enrollment decline from 860 students in fall 2019 to 429 in fall 2022.
Oak Point University operated two campuses: the primary location in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, and a second campus in Oak Brook, Illinois, added in 2021. The university had over 5,600 alumni at the time of closure.
