About

Northwest College and Seminary equips effective Christ-like leaders in and beyond the Fellowship through theological education. Its guiding vision is "Learning to Lead Like Jesus." It is also the official theological education agency of Fellowship Pacific.

History

The college's story began in 1934, when the Regular Baptist Missionary Fellowship of the Prairie Provinces established Western Baptist Bible College in the basement of Westbourne Baptist Church in Calgary, Alberta. The school founder was Rev. Morley Hall, and its first Principal was Rev. George Dawe. It temporarily closed in 1939 during the Second World War. After the war, it re-opened in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, as Northwest Baptist Bible College. In 1959 it received a legislated charter from the government of British Columbia, allowing it to grant all theological degrees. In 1976 the graduate division became a seminary, with Dr. D. A. Carson as its first Seminary Dean. In 1987 Northwest constructed a new building on the Langley campus of Trinity Western University and initiated a partnership to conjointly offer degrees. In 2012 it announced Immerse, a direct assessment, competency-based MDiv.

Academics

The college offers undergraduate and graduate-level ministry education programs through course-based and competency-based theological education (CBTE). Programs are offered in English, French, Spanish, and Korean, reaching ministry leaders in Canada, the US, Central and South America, and Korea. Its Immerse MDiv received accreditation through the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in 2015. Its graduates' placement rate in ministry is 88%.
