Northern Kentucky University organizes its academic programs across seven colleges offering 89 bachelor's degrees, 32 graduate degrees, and over 100 student organizations. Chase College of Law, a historic independent law school founded in 1893, merged with NKU in 1971. For 2021–2022, admitted students' test scores averaged 1020–1240 SAT and 20–26 ACT. The university offers a Direct Admit Program that bypasses the application process and fee for qualified students. Undergraduate demographics (Fall 2023) show 76% White, 7% Black, 5% Hispanic, 4% international, and 30% low-income students.
