NEOMED offers Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), and graduate degrees including Ph.D. and Master's programs. The curriculum integrates behavioral, biological, clinical and social sciences with the humanities, emphasizing interprofessional education and patient-centered care. The university operates 15 academic departments and three centers of excellence, with partnerships across 12 university and college pathway partners and more than 150 clinical facilities for hands-on learning.
NEOMED maintains a broad research portfolio concentrated in seven focus areas: Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolism; Heart & Blood Vessel Disease; Health Services Research; Hearing Research; Musculoskeletal Research; Neurodegenerative Disease and Aging; and Education Research. The university operates the Clinical and Translational Research Institute and The REDIzone® for student research opportunities, with faculty and researchers collaborating across disciplines to discover new knowledge in biomedical, behavioral and community health sciences.
The 120-acre park-like campus in Rootstown features state-of-the-art lecture spaces, labs, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility. The Village at NEOMED provides on-campus residential apartments for professional students, faculty and staff. Students engage in more than 90 organizations ranging from professional societies to recreational groups, with comprehensive health and wellness programs and 24-hour campus safety services.
NEOMED partners with major health systems including Akron Children's Hospital, Aultman Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Mercy Health, Summa Health, and University Hospitals. The university operates NEOMED Health Care and the NEOMED Free Clinic for public service.
