Newman Jets compete in NCAA Division II, primarily in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) as a full member since 2022–23. The university fields 19 varsity sports across men's and women's programs, including baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and wrestling. The mascot, Johnny Jet, was introduced in 2010.
