Montair is a flight training school at Pitt Meadows Airport in British Columbia, established in 1988 to train professional pilots.
Montair Aviation was established in 1988 with a mission to train professional pilots to airline industry standards. The school operates from Pitt Meadows Airport (CYPK), located east of Vancouver in the Lower Fraser Valley. Its address is Unit 160, 18799 Airport Way, Pitt Meadows, BC V3Y 2B4, Canada.
In its early years, the company operated scheduled flights using Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, giving its instructors hands-on flying experience alongside their teaching duties. In 2005, Montair shifted its focus toward training airline pilots from China. The school became one of the few flight schools in the world to receive approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Montair offers Private Pilot Licence training and Transport Canada-approved Commercial Pilot Licence training. The program combines dual instruction, solo flying, ground school, and briefings. Montair is one of only 11 schools in Canada authorized for Integrated ATPL and is the sole provider in BC. Its flight instructors are Transport Canada-certified commercial pilots based at Pitt Meadows Airport.
Montair operates from purpose-built facilities at Pitt Meadows Airport, featuring modern classrooms, multi-crew simulators, and a training fleet equipped with advanced avionics. Listed facilities include a staffed control tower, runways, an on-site café, individual briefing rooms, professional classrooms, a flight planning area, and a GPS-tracked dispatch system. The training fleet includes Cessna 172 R/S aircraft, a Piper PA-34 Seneca, and an Alsim flight training simulator.
Montair accepts international students through a study visa and letter of acceptance process. English language proficiency is required, with ICAO Aviation English Level 4 listed as the admission requirement.
Montair is CAAC-approved and is one of few schools worldwide authorized to train Chinese airline pilots. It is regulated by and holds a Designation Certificate from the B.C. Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU). The school also holds the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation, which is available to British Columbia institutions that meet provincial quality assurance standards.
