About
MNNIT Allahabad, also known as Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, is located in Prayagraj, also referred to as Allahabad. The institute is fully funded by the Government of India. Its address is Prayagraj - 211004, India.
History
The institute was established in 1961 as one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges of India, as a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was an associated college of the University of Allahabad, which is the third oldest university in India. On June 26, 2002, it was transformed into a National Institute of Technology and Deemed University. 2007. The institute established its School of Management Studies in 1996.
Academics
The institute offers nine B.Tech. and nineteen M.Tech. degree programmes, along with MCA, MBA, M.Sc. (Mathematics and Scientific Computing) and M.S.W. programmes, and registers candidates for the Ph.D. degree. It was the first in the country to start an undergraduate programme in Computer Science & Engineering, in 1976-77. The institute has been recognized by the Government of India as one of the centres for the Quality Improvement Programme for M.Tech. and Ph.D.
Campus & Facilities
The entire campus is networked with a 94 Mbps lease line. In 1972 the institute established an industrial estate with 68 sheds. Facilities include boys and girls hostels, a central library with digital collections, and the Institute Health Centre.
Research
The institute was selected as a lead institution in the Design theme under the Indo-UK REC Project (1994-99), under which a Design Centre was established. It has also been selected as a Lead Institution under the World Bank funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) (2002-2007).
