Miller-Motte College was founded in 1916 in Wilmington, North Carolina, originally as a small training facility for courtroom stenographers. Over the decades, the institution expanded to establish campuses across the southeastern United States in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. The college was acquired by Delta Career Education Corporation in 1998 and subsequently sold to Ancora Education in 2018, its current parent company.
Miller-Motte operates as a private for-profit technical college system offering career-focused programs. The institution provides Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology programs at several campuses, which carry specialized accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). In 2009, the college launched an online Bachelor of Science degree completion program to expand access to higher education.
Miller-Motte is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges as branch campuses of Platt College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology programs at select campuses hold additional accreditation from CAAHEP. The college was formerly accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), though that agency's accrediting status was terminated by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
Miller-Motte operates physical campuses in seven cities: Augusta and Columbus, Georgia; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Fayetteville and Jacksonville, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The college also maintains an online campus serving distance learners.
