Mid-America offers two primary graduate degree programs rooted in Reformed theology. The Master of Divinity (M.Div.) prepares students for ordained gospel ministry as pastors, chaplains, missionaries, and evangelists, requiring 102 classroom credits plus 10 Ministerial Apprenticeship Program credits over 3–4 years. The Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) serves those seeking theological education without ordination, requiring 65 classroom credits over 2–3 years with options in Biblical Studies or Historical/Theological Studies. The Ministerial Apprenticeship Program provides M.Div. students with mentorship from experienced pastors through practica, summer internships, and exhorting assignments. Non-degree coursework is also available for lay church members, ordained ministers, and Christian schoolteachers.
The seminary is not governed by any single denomination but serves multiple confessionally Reformed and Presbyterian churches, including the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Reformed Church in the United States (RCUS), and United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA). Faculty and board members are committed to the infallibility and inerrancy of Scripture and the ecumenical creeds and Reformed confessions. The institution emphasizes a close, supportive residential community that develops students intellectually, pastorally, and spiritually.
The seminary maintains a library serving as the intellectual heart of the community, housing a circulating collection of books, reference materials, special collections, bound periodicals, computer databases, audiovisual materials, and microforms. The library provides access to online resources including the Christian Classics Ethereal Library, ATLAS (religion and theology journals), Religious and Theological Abstracts, and the Christian Reformed Church Periodical Index. The campus is located at 229 Seminary Drive in Dyer, Indiana, approximately 30 miles from downtown Chicago.
Mid-America works closely with prospective students during the admission process. The seminary offers pathways for prospective students, international students (with English language skills assessment and financial planning), and transfer students. Admitted students receive support including financial aid, housing information, registration and orientation, insurance guidance, and work-study opportunities. The institution also provides resources for raising funds and payment options to support student enrollment.
