McGovern Medical School offers the MD degree with multiple dual-degree pathways including MD/PhD, MD/MBA, MD/MPH, MD/MS in Clinical Science, MD/MBE (with Rice University), and MD/OMFS. The curriculum emphasizes competency-based learning, integrity, and professionalism grounded in humanism. The school enrolls approximately 240 students per year and maintains over 900 accredited residency and fellowship positions across specialty and subspecialties.

The school operates in the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical complex with over 120,000 employees. Primary teaching hospital is Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, recently ranked second nationally among major teaching hospitals. The Texas Medical Center Library serves the entire 1,345-acre campus and houses the National Network of Libraries of Medicine – South Central Region.
