Academics
Mar Ivanios College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across humanities, sciences, and commerce. Undergraduate aided courses include B.A. English Language and Literature, B.A. Economics, B.Sc. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, and B.Com. Commerce. Self-financing options include B.A. English and Communicative English, B.Com. Finance and Accounting, B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.Sc. Physics with Machine Learning. Postgraduate programs span M.A. English and Malayalam with Media Studies, M.Sc. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Statistics with Data Analytics specialization, M.Com. Finance, and MTTM Tourism & Travel Management. The college also offers add-on diploma and certificate courses.
Accreditation & Recognition
The college holds autonomous status from the University of Kerala (effective June 2014) and was the first institution in the university to receive NAAC accreditation in 1999, followed by re-accreditation with A Grade in 2004 and third-cycle assessment in 2011. It is recognized as a DBT Star College Scheme institution, UGC Paramesh Mentor College, and recipient of DST-FIST support. The college was the first private college affiliated to the University of Kerala to receive CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) status from the UGC.
Campus & Infrastructure
The college is located in Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar in the northern outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. Campus facilities include a main block, science block, commerce block, college auditorium, chapel and prayer hall, college stadium, library, hostels, Mar Gregorius A/C Hall, college canteen, and cafeteria. The college also operates a cooperative society and provides facilities for physically challenged students.
Research & Innovation
The college maintains an active research environment with a dedicated Research & Development Cell, research guides across multiple departments (Chemistry, Commerce, English, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology), and support for Ph.D. scholars. It publishes research through MIC Journals and maintains a researcher's portal. The college has received research grants and operates research facilities to support faculty and student scholarship.
Student Support & Digital Initiatives
The college offers scholarships, fee concessions, and multiple support programs including Walk with a Scholar (WWS), Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASP), Scholar Support Programme (SSP), and Fostering Linkages in Academic Innovation & Research (FLAIR). Digital initiatives include access to SWAYAM platform, SWAYAM PRABHA, E-VIDWAN, National Digital Library, E-SHODH SINDHU, and Virtual Labs. The college also operates an IGNOU Centre for distance education.
