Academics
Madras Christian College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs through Aided and Self-Financed streams. The Aided Stream includes traditional departments such as English, Tamil, History, Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, Commerce, Social Work, and sciences (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology). The Self-Financed Stream provides additional specializations including Business Administration, Journalism, Communication, Geography, Tourism Studies, Computer Applications (BCA), Computer Science (B.Sc. and MCA), Visual Communication, Psychology, and Data Science. The college employs a Choice Based Credit System and integrates value education and environmental studies across curricula.
Research & Advanced Studies
The college maintains a strong research infrastructure through its Deanery of Research and Development, offering PhD programs with formal regulations and oversight by an Institutional Ethics Committee and Office of Research Integrity. Faculty receive support through Seed Money Grants (SMG) and financial assistance for conference attendance. The college has established policies on research, consultancy, and intellectual property rights, and conducts an annual MCC Research Colloquium to foster scholarly exchange.

Beyond core academics, the college houses the Institute for Advanced Christian Studies, Institute for Administrative Services Coaching, Dr. Chandran Devanesen Centre for Human Resource Development, Centre for Peace Studies, and Centre for Women's Studies.
