Private university in Boca Raton offering 50+ undergraduate and 14 graduate degrees with innovative iPad-based learning.
Lynn University offers more than 50 undergraduate degrees and 14 graduate degrees through six colleges, awarding associate, baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. All undergraduate students complete the Dialogues core curriculum, a 12-course program centered on three themes: Self and Society; Justice and Civic Life; and Belief and Reason, with emphasis on quantitative reasoning and scientific literacy. The university also requires all undergraduate day students to complete a three-week January Term focusing on citizenship, career preparation, and language and culture. In 2013, Lynn launched an iPad initiative that provides all students with iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard, replacing traditional textbooks and saving students up to 90% on textbook costs.
The university occupies a 115-acre suburban campus in Boca Raton, Florida. Lynn's athletic teams, known as the Fighting Knights, compete in NCAA Division II within the Sunshine State Conference. The university has won 25 NCAA and NAIA national championships and 47 Sunshine State Conference championships. Men's varsity sports include baseball, basketball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, swimming, cross country, and track & field, while women compete in basketball, golf, and lacrosse. The campus features the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson World Performing Arts Center, which hosted the third 2012 U.S. presidential debate.
Lynn University was founded in 1962 as Marymount College, a women's junior college established by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. In 1974, it became the College of Boca Raton, and in 1991 was renamed Lynn University to honor insurance magnate Eugene M. Lynn for his generous funding. The institution has produced notable alumni including U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald L. Rowe Jr., professional athletes, and public figures across sports, entertainment, and government.
