LSUS offers 25 undergraduate degree programs spanning sciences, business, education, engineering, and humanities. The university provides 13 master's degrees and a Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies. All business degrees are accredited by AACSB International. Five master's programs are available fully online, including MBA, Master of Education degrees, Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration, and Master of Health Administration. The institution emphasizes applied learning through research, internships, and networking opportunities.
Located in urban Shreveport, LSUS serves over 50 student organizations including academic societies, Greek life, and service groups. The University Center functions as the campus hub for student activities. The Noel Memorial Library houses 250,000 books, 100,000 e-books, and 60,000 e-journals, plus the Northwest Louisiana Archives with 1.5 million photographs and the James Smith Noel Collection of rare antiquarian books. The campus also operates the Pioneer Heritage Center, Spring Street Museum, and Red River Radio public network.
LSUS competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) within the Red River Athletic Conference. The Pilots field six varsity sports: men's baseball, basketball, and soccer; women's basketball, soccer, and tennis. The athletic program has won nine regular season conference titles and 16 conference tournament championships. In 2025, the baseball team made history as the first college baseball team to go undefeated for an entire season, winning LSUS's first national championship.
Athletic facilities include The Dock (1,000-seat gymnasium), Pilot Field (baseball), The Swamp (soccer), and eight tennis courts. The Health and Physical Education Building houses the USA Weightlifting High Performance and Development Center. The campus features the Museum of Life Sciences with over 65,000 cataloged specimens, the Pioneer Heritage Center with seven historic plantation structures, and the Spring Street Museum in downtown Shreveport.
