Campus VFX, also known as Lost Boys Studios School of Visual Effects, is a private visual effects training school in Vancouver and Montreal.
Campus VFX was founded in 2006 as Lost Boys School of VFX, building on creative roots that stretch back to the original Lost Boys Studio in 1997. From the beginning, the school's mission was to offer training that reflected the realities of post-production, with hands-on, studio-relevant skills. The school describes itself as a boutique institution, intentionally small so that every student receives attention.
In 2014 the school began offering full-time specialized programs in Advanced Compositing and FX TD. In 2018 Campus VFX expanded to Montreal, bringing personalized, professional training to the heart of Quebec's VFX industry.
Campus VFX offers a 12-month diploma in VFX Compositing and a 12-month diploma in Effects TD. Its programs are approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training. Classes are live and instructor-led with no pre-recorded lessons, whether students study online or on campus. The school states its instructors are full-time professionals, not part-time lecturers.
The Vancouver campus is located at 1825 Victoria Diversion, Vancouver, BC V5N 2K2. The school offers 24/7 campus access so students can work on projects whenever it suits them. Montreal offers a flexible hybrid model in which 12-month programs are divided into two 5.5-month phases. Listed facilities include lab sessions, a simulated production studio-style environment, and in-person filming.
Applicants generally submit a portfolio, personal statement, recommendation letter and complete an interview. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide an English language proficiency test. A VFX Essentials program is available for applicants who do not have a portfolio.
