LIU offers over 500 academic programs across multiple schools and colleges. LIU Brooklyn houses the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (the oldest school, founded 1891), along with schools of engineering, nursing, business, education, and arts & communication. LIU Post features the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine (inaugural class Fall 2020, awarded first DVM degrees in 2024), plus schools of business, engineering, health professions, performing arts, and visual arts. LIU Brooklyn occupies an 11-acre urban campus in Downtown Brooklyn at Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues, featuring nine academic buildings, Division I athletic facilities, residential buildings, and the historic Paramount Theatre with a fully operational Wurlitzer organ. LIU Post spans 330 acres on Long Island's Gold Coast in Brookville, with historic 1920s mansions, gardens, athletic fields, art studios, performing arts space, broadcast stations, and the only on-campus equestrian facility on Long Island. The Tilles Center for the Performing Arts is located at LIU Post. Student newspapers include Seawanhaka (Brooklyn) and The Tide (Post); LIU Public Radio broadcasts on WCWP 88.1.
