Lexington Theological Seminary offers four primary degree programs: Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.), Master in Pastoral Studies (M.P.S.), and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.). The seminary also provides specialized M.T.S. tracks in Latinx Studies and African American Studies. All programs emphasize practical, competency-based education integrated with ministerial practice and personal faith formation. The seminary pioneered flexible online and hybrid delivery models, allowing students to complete coursework at their own pace or in three years of full-time study.
Beyond degree programs, LTS offers Certificate in Pastoral Ministry, Certificate in African American Ministry, Certificado en Ministerios Hispanos (Certificate in Hispanic Ministries), and Certificate in Continuing Education in Congregational Approaches to Technology in Ministry. The seminary provides continuing education through The Lay School of Theology (LST @ LTS), Creating Vital Congregations Webinars, and auditing options for lifelong learners.
The seminary relocated to its current campus at 230 Lexington Green Circle, Suite 300 in Lexington in 2013, after the University of Kentucky purchased its previous 631 South Limestone Street location for $13.5 million. LTS maintains an ecumenical community with approximately 50% of enrollment from denominations other than the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The seminary emphasizes a welcoming, family-like atmosphere and integrates diverse faculty perspectives into theological education.
