LECOM offers five distinct learning pathways for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree: Lecture-Discussion Pathway (LDP), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Directed Study Pathway (DSP), and two three-year programs. The School of Pharmacy provides three pathways including an accelerated three-year program in Erie, a traditional four-year program in Bradenton, and a four-year distance education pathway—one of only two in the nation. The School of Dental Medicine, established in 2012, offers a four-year DMD program with clinical training at full-service dental practice offices. The School of Podiatric Medicine began accepting applications for its inaugural class in fall 2023. Additional graduate programs include master's and doctoral degrees in health sciences, biomedical ethics, public health, and medical education.
LECOM operates five campuses: the main campus in Erie, Pennsylvania; LECOM at Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pennsylvania; LECOM Bradenton in Bradenton, Florida; LECOM at Elmira in Elmira, New York; and a planned fifth campus at Jacksonville University in Florida expected to open in fall 2026. The Erie campus overlooks Lake Erie and houses the primary medical school facilities. The Bradenton campus, located in the Lakewood Ranch community, hosts the College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Pharmacy, and School of Dental Medicine. Each campus provides specialized learning environments tailored to regional healthcare needs.
LECOM offers an Early Acceptance Program for qualified high school seniors and college underclassmen, contingent upon pursuing BS/DO or BA/DO degrees with affiliate universities. The medical school is among the most applied-to in the United States. Entrance requirements and financial aid information are available through the admissions office. The college maintains accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
LECOM Health, the academic health system affiliated with the medical school, operates ACGME-accredited residency programs in family medicine, orthopedic surgery, psychiatry, and transitional year, open to graduates from all medical schools. The institution maintains partnerships with professional sports teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Yankees. LECOM owns multiple radio stations and is deeply integrated into regional healthcare delivery through its teaching hospital and physician office network.
